Dabangg sweeps music awards at IIFA

MUMBAI: In the popular categories in music, Dabangg stood tall winning three awards; best music direction,  best playback singer male and female at International Indian Film Academy awards held on saturday 25 June in Toronto.

Sajid-Wajid and Lalit Pandit won for music director while Mamta Sharma for her song Munni Badnaam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan for Tere Mast Mast Do Nain.

Award for the best lyrics was bagged by Niranjan Iyengar for the the song 'Sajda' from 'My Name Is Khan'.

At IIFA Rocks, a bollywood-inspired concert and fashion show, the higlights were  Sonu Nigam performing alongside Michael Jackson's brother and former Jackson 5 member, Jermaine Jackson, for a tribute to the King of Pop, while musical trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy performed alongside designers and their models on the ramp.

Technical awards in the music categories were also presented at the IIFA Awards. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy won the award for best background score for the film My Name Is Khan, while Pritam Das won for best sound recording for Love, Sex aur Dhoka.

Maneesh Sharma's Band Baaja Baaraat bagged the award for Song Recording by Vijay Dayal's Ainvayi Ainvayi. Dabangg" won an award for choreography for "Munni badnaam hui" choreographed by Farah Khan, while Leslie Fernandes bagged the award for song recording.
