RAM Week 6/2011

MUMBAI: Radio City is back to Number Two in Mumbai, after the last week showed it behind the new Number Two, BIG FM, by a whisker. Interestingly, the gap between market leader Radio Mirchi and the Numbers 2,3 and 4, is now much smaller. From a market share of 17% in Week 5, and 16% on an average across Weeks 1 to 4, Radio Mirchi per Week 6 is at a  market share of 14.8%, with Radio City, Red FM and BIG FM close on its heels with 13.3%, 12.9% and 12.8% respectively. Of the top four in Mumbai this week, only Red FM registered an increase of 0.70% market share in Mumbai.

(Meanwhile, quoting RAM data for Week 6, BIG FM has announced that its show 'BIG 30 Countdown'  is now the Number One show across all evening drive radio shows with a 16.6% share --  a clear lead of 3% over the next competitor....)

In Bangalore, traditional leader BIG FM has dropped as much as 1.5% of market share but managed to remain in front of Number Two Radio Mirchi, even if only be the slightest whisker of 0.10% -- with a market share of 17.60% as against Mirchi's 17.50%. BIG's average  market share for Weeks 1 to 4 and in Week 5 was 19%, which is now down to 17.60%  SFM gained in Bangalore by 1.30%, to close the week at a market shar eof 10.80%, at No. 5 overall in the city.
                                                              
Delhi has Radio Mirchi and Fever FM at Numbers 1 and 2 respectively, though Fever is closer to Mirchi than the Number 3, AIR FM2 Gold, is to Fever. For Mirchi, Week 6 was its lowest amongst the 6 weeks this year - in Weeks 1 to 4, it averaged a 24% market share, and in Week 5 too it had registered a 24% market share; Week 6 has it at 22.90%, with Fever at 19.80% and the Number 3 AIR FM2 at 14.20%, ahead of joint Numbers 4 Radio City and Red FM locked at 9.80% 

Radio Mirchi leads in Kolkata with a 21.40% market share, with BIG FM a strong Number Two with 17.90%, ahead of the Number Three Friends FM on 12.2% and Aamar FM on 11.5%.
