New chart milestone for Scorpions; six albums place on German charts simultaneously

MUMBAI: Legendary German rock band- Scorpions have achieved a new landmark in chart success, with six of their albums placing on the German charts, simultaneously. The albums, launched by BMG, are deluxe reissues, originally produced by Dieter Dierks, and have been released as part of the band’s massive 50th anniversary celebrations.

Scorpions’ new feat makes them the fifth music act to have six or more albums place on the German charts at the same time. The albums include ‘Blackout’ (1982) which entered the chart at 43; ‘Love At First Sting’ (1984) – at 46; ‘World Wide Live’ (1985) – at 52; ‘Lovedrive’ (1979) – at 59; ‘Tokyo Tapes’ (1978) – at 70; and ‘Scorpions Deluxe Vinyl Box Set’ at 97.

Other artists to have also achieved the milestone include The Beatles, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and James Last.

In addition to a number of unheard live recordings and studio tracks, the reissued albums also feature booklets with rare photos, additional linear notes and backstage passes.

BMG is responsible for publishing rights to a lot of the Scorpions’ material after 1990, including their world famous track ‘Winds of Change’, one of the best selling singles by a German band, and the band’s latest album- ‘Return To Forever’, which was released in February this year.
