Radio Mirchi launches Delhi's first ever travel show

MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi Delhi has offered a new concept to listeners with a unique show designed particularly for explorers. The show- 'DDLJ- Dekho Dilli Like Jassi', which launched on 14 April 2016, introduces the travelogue format, so far popularised on television, into radio content.

RJ Jassi hosts the weekly three hour long show and has completed three episodes already. Every week, the show aims to bring out a new discovery within Delhi that takes its audience away from the mayhem of shopping malls and the socialite cafes and focuses on art, culture, community and food that Delhi truly stands for. “I think nobody talks about travelling on radio and discovering exotic destinations. Through this platform, the traveler within me emerges out on the airwaves of radio and Delhi, being rediscovered in an all-new way in the show, “says RJ Jassi.

Jassi added, “My mother is an Afghani and my dad is Indian. I want Delhi to experience Afghani food and culture which is clearly an indispensable part of the capital city. I want my listeners to consume authentic ‘Chicken Chettinad’ here in Delhi without buying an expensive ticket to Kerala for the particular dish. This is Delhi’s first ever travel show and I want them to experience Delhi like never before.

This is not the first time that a radio station has experimented with the travelogue concept. Big FM introduced the concept in 2012 with its show ‘Big Chutti’ that took the listeners to tourist spots, offering the audience an experience of location on radio. This show was aired all over the Big FM network in the country.
