Music knows no boundary, says Pak officer as Kailash Kher accidentally crosses border

NEW DELHI: Singer Kailash Kher enthralled Pakistani Army officers as he accidentally stepped across the border to share greetings with his fans in that country.

The incident happened when Kher was at Wagah Border to perform a special show for a channel for the Indian Jawans on the occasion of Independence Day.

After the show and the regular Beating the Retreat ceremony, Kher visited the area behind the buildings of both the countries, where there is a stone mark and a thin chain for a boundary and people from both the sides can talk, click photos and even shake hands.

When Kher reached there with the Indian officers, several Pakistani officers expressed the desire to meet him and reached their side of the border to do so.

Kher went ahead to meet them, not realising that he had crossed the border. When an Indian officer pointed out to him that he was on the other side of the border, a Pakistani officer indicated there was no harm in it and said: 'No problem, music knows no boundary.' and shook hands with the singer.

Crowds from both sides that had gathered started cheering and applauding at this point, making the atmosphere jovial and amicable.

Kher then said: "Aaj hi aapke aur hamaare singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan ke sath hamara ek dosti ka gaana release hua hai, for the film ‘Desi Kattey’." The song from the film which is based on friendship was released the same day, in collaboration with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan who sang with Kher.
