Michael Jackson album sales soar in India

MUMBAI: Just five days after his death, pop star Michael Jackson's albums are in high demand across stores globally. Music industry market groups reported on Sunday that Michael Jackson's 2003 album of his greatest hits, 'Number Ones', has surged again to the top of the album charts in Britain. A week ago, the 'Number Ones' album with 18 number-one hits by Jackson had stood at 121. The album sales have not risen in the UK or the US alone, Sony Music's India division witnessed a sudden demand for the pop star's albums in a few days after his tragic death.

Tips proposes open market share buyback

MUMBAI: Tips Industries has announced its intention to buy back its shares (Rs 10 face value each)  at a price not exceeding Rs 75  - a premium of 81 per cent approximately from the company's yesterday closing price of Rs 41.55 on the BSE. Company sources say the buyback offer, through the open market purchase route, would start once the company receives a consent from shareholders and Sebi. Tips Industries has issued a notice of a postal ballot seeking the approval of its shareholders on the buy back.

Beyonce bags two awards at BET awards

MUMBAI: The latest edition of the BET awards held on 28 June in Los Angeles was dedicated to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The show's lineup was changed after Jackson passed three days before the awards. The BET Awards were established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment over the past year.
