Yash Raj Films sign Yo Yo Honey Singh for 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti'

MUMBAI: Yo Yo Honey Singh will be soon heard in the next venture of Yash Raj Films (YRF) ‘Mere Dad Ki Maruti’ (MDKM). The audio of the film will be out by January-end.

This album consists of four dance tracks based on Punjabi music that go with the story line of the movie and the backdrop of a loud Punjabi wedding in Chandigarh. Music director Sachin Gupta has bagged in well known Punjabi musicians Mika Singh, Yo Yo Honey Singh and Diljit Dosanjh. Dosanjh is an actor in Punjab and this is his bollywood debut as a singer.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Gupta said, “ We have roped in Honey Singh for one song whose lyrics are written by Kumaar. The lyrics are clean and based on the theme of the film. Director Ashima Chibber and producer Ashish Patil made it a point that Honey Singh comes as a playback singer only and nothing more than that.” The song is called Punjabiyan Di Battery and features a jugalbandi between Honey and Mika Singh.

Apart from YRF films, Gupta is looking forward for the music of ‘Ishaq’ which will be coming up soon. He added that the music for this movie will be on lines of folk fusion. By the end of the year, Gupta plans to have four movies lined up.

MDKM marks the directorial debut of Ashima Chibber who has worked as an assistant director with Shimit Amin on ‘AbTakChappan’, ‘Chak De India’ and Imtiaz Ali on ‘Rockstar’. The film is an outrageous comedy set against the backdrop of a loud Punjabi wedding in Chandigarh. It tells the story of a boy who sneaks his dad’s fancy new car out to impress the college hottie and how all hell breaks loose when he loses it! Ashima Chibber is doing a directorial debut with the film.

The film stars Ram Kapoor and two new faces Saqib Saleem and Rhea in the lead roles and is slated to release on 15 March 2013.
