Tough on Tobacco releases its first music video

MUMBAI: Tough on Tobacco has just released its first music video. The video has been shot for 'Taxi Song' which features in the band's debut album The Happy Goat' which released in November 2009.

Tough on Tobacco is singer songwriter Sid Coutto's genre bending, convention defying and wildly funny live act.

The video of the Taxi Song' has a subtle Don't Drink and Drive' message, something that is very relevant in our country today.

It revolves around a day in the life of a taxi guy in Mumbai. While the premise of the video seems relatively normal, the events that the taxi guy faces through his day are what make the video entertaining. All this is intercut with the band jamming to the song in a colourful outdoor location.

The song takes you on a journey with the taxi guy as he goes through his daily routine.

The bridge of the song turns Bollywood with the violin coming in to add an Indian flavour to the song. Keeping with that spirit, the video gets a kitschy tone with a short song and dance number.

The last shot of the video is a broken bottle of alcohol that had fallen from the taxi and rolls into frame. Singer Anushka Manchanda makes a guest appearance in the video.

The video is produced by Babble Fish Productions, a niche production house that creates music based content with a focus on the digital medium. It is directed by its founder Samira Kanwar, who has produced music videos for bands such as Pentagram, Raghu Dixit and Shaa'ir + Func.

Tobacco's debut album was released as a free download on their website and it gained the band a good deal of popularity. It also helped the band reach listeners across the world that might have otherwise never heard the music.

In keeping with the same spirit, the band has released the video online and will focus on a viral campaign in order to spread the music.
