Radio Mantra to celebrate Lata Mangeshkar's birthday

MUMBAI: Honouring the nightingale of India Lata Mangeshkar on her 83rd birthday and marking 70 years of her career, Radio Mantra has planned a week long special programming titled ‘70MM Lata’ across its networks.

Commencing from 24 September, the station’s morning show ‘Action Replay’ (11am-1pm) will feature interesting trivia about the singer and interviews of the personalities from the industry who had an opportunity to work with her. It will also comprise of her best songs spanning across her career. Lending the initiative an interactive touch, the network will also give its listeners the opportunity to vote for their favorite song rendered by the legendary singer. If their song makes it in the top 10 of the Mantra Top 30 countdown, the winner will stand a chance to become a Mantra VIP and co-host the evening drive show ‘Route 919’ on 29 September.

Radio Mantra national programming head Kanwar Sameer said, “70 MM Lata is our way of expressing our love and respect for her and at the same time, give our listeners some 'real gold' melodies by the legend. A week long activity featuring Lata ji will certainly leave the audience mantra mugdh.”

With a career spanning across seven decades, Mangeshkar was featured in the Guinness Book of World Records between 1974 to 1991 for having made the most recordings in the world. She has recorded songs for over a thousand movies and has rendered tracks in over 36 regional Indian and foreign languages. The legend has also won many awards and honours including the Padma Bhushan, Padma Vibhushan, Bharat Ratna, Dada Saheb Phalke and National film awards amongst others.
