It goes without saying that Goa is a prime party zone during the Christmas season. Over the years, festivals, parties and carnivals have filled up the sunny beaches of the sunshine state. With the rapidly professionalization of the event industry, top DJ and well-heeled revelers will head for the shores.

One of the most eagerly-awaited of the festivals is the ‘Soulscape Music fest to be held on 23-24 December. What sets this festival apart is the fact that it is going to be a full Electronic Dance Music (EDM) fest-just the type Indian revelers have come to love. ‘The first ever true EDM festival in India’ will have music covering the sub-genre;  Electronic, Trance, Psy & Dance  performed by acts like Asterix de Jesus, Astral Projection, Fatali, 1200 Mics, Audiogram, Forest Girl, and DJ Anita Shanti.

Radioandmusic.com caught up with the organizers  V7 Entertainment Pvt Ltd and Goa-based Titos Event Management Varkey Patani for inside dope on the buzz.

How big is EDM getting to be in India -it seems to be getting bigger every year?

EDM is now mainstream, from the last time I got down DJ Tiesto to India in Feb 2007 till now, EDM is the largest growing genre in the country.

Initially, India was very slow to react to this genre but now I’m happy that people are aware of this. Over the past few years a lot of artists have performed in India for a lot of festivals and shows thus making it quite popular amongst the Indian audience and increasing its fan base.

How is Soulscape being organized? - Can you share the logistical details & how are the tickets priced?

Soulscape is a two- day festival that will take place at Red Square, Baga beach on the 23-24 December 2012. The line-up includes some of the top EDM artists to ever brace the scene and they will be performing in front of an audience of about 7000 - 8000 people.

Our aim to ensure all lovers of electronica in India get a fair chance to witness them play live and not be restricted to come due to high ticket pricing.

And your ticket prices are?

Our ticket price is extremely affordable. For both the days tickets are priced at Rs 2000. The two-day General pass is for Rs 3500 and two-day VIP pass – is for 8000 which includes unlimited alcoholic beverages. Is Soulscape planned as a regular event? Will it (the franchise) expand to other cities like NH7 & Sunburn?

Yes absolutely, we plan to organize this festival twice a year and grow step by step. India as a country is massive and it has EDM lovers all over, so our plan is not only to organize this event in one city but all over and in other countries as well. For us, EDM knows no boundaries.

What kind of an experience can people expect from Soulscape?

I think it will be a life changing experience for all Soulscapers as it will emphasize the ideals of peace, love, unity and respect and will be a harmonic convergence of people, energy and music. As an EDM lover, you couldn’t ask for more.
