Actress Anne Hathaway set to show off vocal skills

MUMBAI: Following the footsteps of famed actor James Franco who decided to try his hands on singing, renowned Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway is all set to show off her vocal skills in the upcoming musical film ‘Les Miserables’.

The 29-year-old who shot to fame with her role in ‘Princess Diary’ will also perform at a benefit concert to be held on 24 October at New York's The Public Theater. Conducted to celebrate the revitalization of the iconic Public Theater's downtown home at Astor Place, Hathaway will be joined by several other special guests from stage and screen.

The actress will perform renditions of John Kander and Fred Ebb's famous musical songs including hits like ‘Cabaret’, ‘Willkommen’, ‘Maybe This Time’ and ‘Perfectly Marvelous’. The evening will also feature direction by Tony Award winner ‘Ted Sperling’ and musical direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell.

“I am delighted to reunite with The Public for this special night to celebrate the theater's rededication, and support its mission to spread great theater to all the people of New York (tourists are welcome too)," Hathaway said in a statement.

The  Academy Award nominee Hathaway plays Fantine in the musical film ‘Les Miserables’, which is scheduled to released in December 2012.
