Shazam selects former Hulu executive Patricia Parra as its CMO

MUMBAI: Music identification company Shazam has announced that it has appointed Patricia Parra as the new chief marketing officer. She will directly report to Shazam CEO Rich Riley.

Parra expressed enthusiasm at the appointment and said, "Shazam already has a strong reputation for a great music discovery experience that sets the standard for others to follow. I look forward to helping Shazam continue to move into new areas and build upon its existing success."

Parra added, "Patricia’s extensive background in television, her track record leading innovative and creative global campaigns, as well as her understanding of digital entertainment platforms makes her an ideal addition to our leadership team."

Riley said, "There is no one better than Patricia to translate Shazam’s value for television and other real life use cases and increase engagement among our hundreds of millions of users. She will be critical to our success as we rapidly innovate to connect our users with the world around them."

Parra has been a part of the Digital Network Distribution team at HBO where she played an integral role in the implementation and marketing of innovative products like HBO On Demand and HBO GO. She was also the Head of Content Marketing at Hulu, a video streaming website. She joins Shazam from OUYA where she held the same position.

The newly confirmed CMO will be bringing her 15 years of experience in consumer marketing and digital brands. She will be in charge of driving brand vision, crafting marketing and communication strategies and leading the overall marketing function. In addition to that, she is also responsible for enriching Shazam’s user experience to deliver increased benefits to its 450 million subscribers.
