Rdio strengthens its EMEA team with three appointments

MUMBAI: Music streaming service- Rdio added music executives to its growing UK-based team covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa. This will help the service to further strengthen its hold globally. The company hired Hong Nguyen as head of EMEA; Alex Vlassopulos as VP and head of business development, EMEA; and Luke Anthony as director of legal and business affairs.   

The appointment is in response to its expansion plans and increase user base for the service.

All of them will work closely with international new business VP Oliver Barnes, to boost Rdio's efforts to make music accessible to music lovers all over the world.

Rdio international president Scott Bagby, said, "With the addition of these three proven leaders, I look forward to continuing our expansion across Europe and beyond by providing the best music streaming experience."

In Nguyen's new role, he will execute Rdio's strategic plans across the EMEA and establishing a strong presence for the music streaming service in the region. Prior to joining Rdio, he worked with VEVO as GM where he looked after sales, marketing, finance, business development, content and programming in UK and Europe. He was with Fox Interactive Media as the director of finance for EMEA, Latin America and Asia Pacific.

Vlassopulos experience will be used to develop business development strategies and build partnerships across the EMEA region for the company. In his previous job as VP of commercial development at Omnifone, he was responsible for delivering significant growth through commercial sales. He also worked with two leading labels like Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music Group.

At Rdio, he will oversee the legal affairs for the company's commercial activities across the EMEA region. Prior to Radio, he has worked with media and entertainment law firm Michael Simkins LLP and in-house counsel at Warner Music Group.
