Jingle Punks partners with Timbaland and ESPN to rebrand iconic SportsCenter theme song

MUMBAI: Jingle Punks, the music marketing agency whose presence was bolstered earlier this year after being acquired by ole, today (7 September, 2015) announced its partnership with ESPN and legendary music producer, Timbaland, in the rebranding of ESPN’s iconic ‘SportsCenter’ theme song for Scott Van Pelt’s new show.

The new midnight edition of ‘SportsCenter’, which premieres Monday, 7 September, 2015 immediately following ESPN’s telecast of the game between No. 1 Ohio State and Virginia Tech, will present the world of sports as seen through Van Pelt’s unique perspective as a long time ESPN anchor. The theme song will play a prominent part in differentiating the show from other SportsCenter editions.

Timbaland, who recently undertook a creative partnership with Jingle Punks, produced the remake of the iconic track alongside Jingle Punks co-founder and President Jared Gutstadt. The newly minted song draws its tempo from the famous ‘SportsCenter’ hook, but is uniquely layered to create a brand new sound for fans.

"When Timbaland and I began collaborating on several projects, it came to my attention that he was interested in working with sports and the iconic ESPN brand," said Gutstadt. "Adding his legendary spin to the theme song for Scott Van Pelt’s new show felt like the perfect platform.”

The premiere of the theme song, which coincides with the 36th anniversary of the launch of ESPN on 7 September, 1979, is part of an ongoing collaboration with Jingle Punks and Timbaland. Other upcoming projects include a scripted series aimed at the tween market and based on Timbaland’s legendary Thomas Crown Studio in Virginia Beach, which will focus on the process of discovery and evolution of young artists who seek to become the next Michael Jackson, Usher and Pharrells of the world.
