MUMBAI: NINE FM, the YOUNG and CONTEMPORARY... FM station of North Bengal organized the first ever reality Carol Singing Competition - �Av� Maria' this Christmas. There have been many reality shows on television but for the first time in North Bengal, NINE on 91.9FM has organized first ever ON-AIR CAROL SINGING COMPETITION.

NINE FM invited its listeners to participate in the Competition. Participate registered for the contest by sending SMS to NINE FM.

It was a 10-day event. Registration began from 15th December till 20th December 2009. Quarter Finals and Semi Finals were held on-air where the participants appealed to the listeners to vote for them through SMS. The final round was held on Christmas Eve at one of the largest mall of Siliguri where the finalist performed live in front of a huge audience.

Panel of Judges included renowned Singers of North Bengal. The top three finalist received gift hampers from NINE FM as well as buffet lunch coupons from ROYAL SAROVAR PREMIERE- a luxury premiere hotel. Cakes and chocolates were distributed among all the participants, judges and the audience present to witness the competition.

After the competition, Judges too took over the stage and enthralled the audience by singing soulful carols. Audiences too could not hold back so they actively participated in the funfare.

On Christmas , NINE SANTA CLAUS will hit the town to entertain the people of Siliguri and distribute gifts to the people.
