UK Charts: It's an all Canadian affair at the top as Mendes replaces Bieber for the #1 Single

MUMBAI: Justin Bieber no longer holds the #1 position at the UK Charts and there's another Canadian responsible his dethroning. Shawn Mendes' 'Stitches' tops the chart, this week, with over 1,500 combined chart sales ahead of 21-year-old Bieber.

Mendes' popular hit 'Stitches' entered the chart seventeen weeks ago and the rise to the summit has been gradual and consistent. The song reached Top 40 two months after entering the Singles Chart. Mendes ended Bieber's impressive run at the top that started nine weeks ago.

However, Bieber continues to dominate the Top 10 with three singles that follow 'Stitches' (in order- 'Love Yourself', 'Sorry' and 'What Do You Mean'). The new entries in the Top 10 are- Snakeship ft Tinashe and Chance's 'All My Friends' at #8 and Major Lazer ft Nyla's 'Light It Up'.

David Bowie's 'Blackstar' was bound to shake some things in the Albums Chart and the album's run at the top continues for second week in a row. Joining 'BlackStar' in the Top 3 is the very best compositions of David Bowie, simply titled, 'Best Of Bowie' which entered the chart last week at #18. After slipping to the third position, Adele's '25' regained some momentum and ended the week at #2. The encouraging news comes almost a day after her single 'Hello' crossed 1 billion views on YouTube in record-breaking time.

American rock band Panic at the Disco's fifth studio album 'Death of a Bachelor' entered the charts and sits comfortably at #4, pushing Bieber's 'Purpose' to the fifth position. Last Week's #2- Elvis Presley's 'If I Can Dream' falls to sixth position, whereas, Jack Savoretti's 'Written In Scars' returns to the chart after two months, however, it makes its first appearance in the Top 10- at #7.
