RAM Wk 10: Bangalore churns, Kolkata freezes

MUMBAI: Radio Audience Measurement in Kolkata showed  the market sizes across 13 individual stations and a 14th category of â€?others' virtually frozen from the last week. There was no change in Market Shares in 12 of the 14, while one of the stations gained by the tiniest of 0.1% market share, and another lost to the same extent.

Even as Kolkata froze, there was churn and turmoil in Bangalore, which witnessed the biggest shifts in market shares, affecting 7 of the 11 individual stations there. The big gainers there were AIR FM 1 Vividh Bharti which added 1.3% market share, Radio City which gained 1.2%, Radio Mirchi with 1.1% and BIG FM which added 0.9% market share over Week 9  Stations that were hit per Week 10 were Fever FM (-2.6%), SFM / Red FM and AIR FM 1- Rainbow (-1.2%).

The picture after the big moving and shaking seen in RAM Week 9 has not changed much per the Week 10 report  Fever, which had raced to the top in Delhi with a 23.8% market share to gain a solid 4.1% lead over Radio Mirchi there, lost 1.2% to close Week 10 at 22.6% -- still ahead of Radio Mirchi which too dropped a 0.7% market share to remain No. 2 at 19%. Key gains in Delhi: AIR FM 2- Gold 0.7%, BIG FM 0.5%.

In Bangalore, the scenario has worsened for Fever FM, where, after its disastrous slide to the Number 4 position there with a 4.4% market share loss per Week 9, it lost another chunk of market share (2.6%) to close Week 10 at 9.7% market share 

In Mumbai, Radio Mirchi, which had regained its customary top spot from Radio City per Week 9 data, lost 0.6% market share to end Week 10 at 15.7%, but managed to remain ahead of Radio City, which climbed back to the Second spot with a 1% market share gain and closed at 14.3% market share, ahead of BIG FM's 13.8% which the station reached with a growth of 0.7% per Week 10  Key gains in Mumbai: Radio City and Fever FM – 1%, and BIG FM – 0.7%
