Twenty One Pilots release highly anticipated sophomore studio album Blurryface

MUMBAI: After multiple Top five charting singles, sold out tour dates months out, the album pre-order being a fixture in the Top 10 and currently sitting at #1 in the U.S. and #3 on the iTunes Album Chart in Canada, Twenty One Pilots, one of the most buzzed about bands of 2014, have released their highly anticipated sophomore album, Blurryface, available at music retailers worldwide today. Since announcing the album’s imminent release in March via the Twenty One Pilots Twitter account, their dedicated fan base created a social media frenzy, leading Twenty One Pilots to trend worldwide on Twitter and Tumblr. Fans have been clamoring to hear the new record, and singles teasing the album’s release have been giving listeners a taste of what Tyler Joseph (lead vocals, piano, and the band’s songwriter) and Josh Dun (drums) have in store.

Blurryface takes Twenty One Pilots’ explosive mix of hip-hop, indie rock and punk to the next level, with soaring pop melodies and eclectic sonic landscapes. The fan track, “Fairly Local,” reached #1 on iTunes’ Alternative Chart, and top 5 on Billboard’s Twitter Chart. The album’s lead single, “Tear In My Heart,” debuted at #8 on Billboard’s Top Rock Songs Chart, while the following single, “Stressed Out,” debuted with over 1 million streams first week. The companion videos for all 3 songs have already amassed over 10 million views combined.

Twenty One Pilots are also set to perform on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, airing May 22nd. The duo will then set out on the Blurryface World Tour after opening dates in the UK earlier this May, followed by North America this Fall. The North American leg kicks off September 8thin Washington, DC and hits major cities such as Toronto, New York, Los Angeles, the band’s hometown of Columbus, OH, and the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado. Ticketing information can be found on the band's website. The band will also bring their Blurryface World Tour to Australia, South East Asia, Japan, and Europe prior to the North American dates.

In only one record cycle Twenty One Pilots have grown astronomically, emerging from clubs to main stage festival appearances. The band’s 2014 “quiet is violent tour” reached sold out audiences around the world including London, Amsterdam, Paris, Tokyo, Sydney, Mexico City and more. The band is also set to perform at a myriad of summer festivals around the world including Bonnaroo, Sasquatch, Bunbury, Lollapalooza and Fuji Rock.

Twenty One Pilots’ meteoric rise since the release of Vessel saw the band named an MTV Artist To Watch, and give unforgettable live performances at the 1st annual AP Music Awards, 2014 MTV Movie Awards, and Late Night With Seth Meyers. Named #1 in Alternative Press’ 10 Essential Albums of 2013, Vessel continues to gain momentum with the highest selling week for their album occurring recently at the end of their two year album cycle, and over 300,000 copies sold, and over 1,000,000 singles sold to date.
