Various Artists - Grammy Nominations 2009

Label - EMI Music India,

Rating - 2.5 / 5,

Various Artists - Grammy Nominations 2009 has an impressive list of artistes representing the year's pop and R&B scenes. The
album features artistes like Katy Perry's mega-platinum 'I Kissed a Girl' to Duffy, Adele, Estelle, and M.I.A

Sadly, the album doesn't have much for the rock music lovers, perhaps just one song 'Waiting In The Weeds' by the Eagles.
And, to add, there's no John Mayer - who eventually went on to win the best pop vocal performance for his song 'Say' or
Flo Rida's 'Low' - the highest-selling single of the year and the recipient of multiple Grammy nominations.

The Grammy nomination process has been under a scanner for a long time for catering to the Academy's choices rather than
listerners' tastes. Various Artists - Grammy Nominations 2009 is not an exception to such criticism. Nevertheless, the
selection of fancy pop songs makes it enjoyable - to those who love it or those, who don't mind it.

The problem with Grammy Nominees 2009 lies with the song selection which gives more weight to pop music, this, perhaps at the expense of modern rock, country, and jazz

Grammy Dope:

The Grammy winner's list announced in February had Lil Wayne topping the nominations with eight grammies, Coldplay garnered
seven, and Jay-Z, Ne-Yo and Kanye West each earned six. Alison Krauss, John Mayer, Robert Plant, Radiohead and Jazmine
