Swarthma and Old Man River to perform at Nokia Music Connects '10

MUMBAI: Indi band Swarthma is in full swing this year. After touring Morocco, UK and playing at some international music festivals like Lovebox and Larmer Tree Festival, Swarathma will now be lashing out their musical talent at the pre-launch party of Nokia Music Connects (a music conference that focuses on the music industry) in India on 31 August at Hard Rock Cafe in Mumbai.

The band will be collaborating with Australian act Old Man River to give their songs an exciting new twist. The folksy Australian act blends naturally with their music and they're reinventing two of their songs Ee Bhoomi' and Bolo Kya Hai' with Old Man River for their act.

Known for a visually electric interactive stage act featuring faux- folk-horses and Nehru Topis, the band has won over audiences at top festivals such as Lovebox and Larmer Tree Festivals in London and Awtar Festival in Morocco, giving performances in Hong Kong and Singapore as well.

Swarathma's first music video 'Pyaasi' was launched in May 2010. Funded by the Gibson Foundation and the Global Water Challenge, it speaks of the fragility of water told through a story of contrasts. It features the voice of legendary Indian Classical singer Shubha Mudgal who collaborated with Swarathma on the track.

Swarathma was also the first Indian band that launched an iPhone application. The app, developed by Only Much Louder Digital (OML) allows fans to connect with the band, get Google Map directions to the next Swarathma performance, watch video and even play along with a song using the motion sensor feature of the iPhone.
