Stage is set for 6th South Asian Bands fest

MUMBAI: More than 10,000 audiences will be seen at Purana Qila,New Delhi for the sixth edition of the South Asian Bands Festival. The three-day fest will commence from 7 December.

More than 50 artists will get a platform to showcase their talent in front of a large audience as well as interact with different bands. Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, festival director Sanjeev Bhargava says, “Music binds people so here they come to play with love
affection, friendship and harmony with music; we don’t harp on differences or we don’t harp on issues. They come to India to perform in South Asian Bands festivals. We look forward to things that unite us.”

The fest is presented by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) in collaboration with Ministry of External Affairs and NGO Seher. Adding on the quality of the festival, Bhargava states, “Production of the festival is professional; our production quality can be compared to any festival that is done in London, New York or Central Park. ”

Pakistani band Noori, a famous name in Pakistan will also make its debut with the fest in India. Other rock bands, who will debut at the festival, include Souls (Bangladesh), Thriloka (Sri Lanka), E-Sa & His Troupe (Maldives), The Likens (Bhutan), Blaze (Myanmar) and
Jindabaad (Nepal).  Bollywood singer-composer Clinton Cerejo and Nasya from New Delhi, bands from Mumbai such as Tough on Tobacco, Shkaban and Shaair & Func, Digital Suicide (Assam) and Galeej Gurus from Bangalore, will be representing India. There are about 15 bands from nine countries.

The festival will conclude on 9 December. Unlike most festivals, there is no entry fee.
