Rekha Bhardwaj to perform at 'Rock for Rights 2011'

MUMBAI: Popular Sufi singer Rekha Bhardwaj will perform live at 'Rock for Rights (RFR) 2011', to be held on 27 November in New Delhi.

Rock for Rights 2011 brings together musical talent from South Asia and creates a platform to speak for human rights, choice, dignity and social justice.

The concert will also feature other artistes like Zeb & Haniya, Papon & The East India Co, Ma Faiza and Alisha Battht performing on genres including Sufi, electronic, folk and rock.

Speaking on the new initiative, Rekha Bhardwaj said, The power of music, especially sufi traditions allows great freedom and fluidity. I am excited to add my voice to Rock for Rights and the cause of equal human rights for everyone, and a life of dignity, choice and freedom irrespective of their personal choices or gender identity. "

Queer artiste Ma Faiza said, "There is a greater need then ever before to support the cause of equal human rights for everyone. I'm thrilled to be even a small part of the change with my performance at Rock for Rights."

The concert is organized by NYC-based organization 'Engendered' in association with �Queer Delhi.
