Ravi Shukla crowned Star Voice of India

MUMBAI: Delhi boy Ravi Shukla has emerged the winner of this year's television music talent hunt, Amul Star Voice of India, featured on Star Plus.

In the finale held in Mumbai on Sunday, Ravi Shukla was crowned the winner by chief guest Sonu Niigaam and awarded a brand new car along with a cheque for Rs 2.5 million and a contract for his first album in conjunction with T-Series.

While several critics considered runner-up Sikkim girl Saptaparna Chakraborty, a better singer, Shukla walked away victorious, winning the viewers' vote by a considerable margin.

The judges for the second edition of Voice of India, that kicked off on 18 July 2008,  were Sukhwinder Singh ,Ismail Darbar and Monty Sharma.

There were a total of 23 contestants who belonged to different states shortlisted for the hunt - Apapbidya Chakraborty, Amitabh Narayan, Argha Dutta, Arvind Dhandwaal, Debarati Bhattacharjee, Kanika Joshi, Mahipal Singh Rathore, Mallar Karmakar, Mangesh Boregaonkar, Mukul Soni, Rahul Mukharjee, Rithisha Padmanabh, Rohit Sonar, Ruchi Sharma, Ryan Dias, Saptaparna Chakraborty, Sayantani Das, Shikha Jain, Shraddha Das, Sonali Dogra, Vinti Singh, Vipul Mehta and Zakir Hussain.

The show was aired every Friday and Saturday at 10 pm.
