Raghu Dixit composes anthem for KPL team Mysore Warriors

MUMBAI: Fresh off an extensive UK tour, Indian folk musician Raghu Dixit recently composed the anthem for Karnataka Premiere League team Mysore Warriors. Born and brought up in the city of Mysore in Karnataka, Dixit composes an invigorating track for its home team. The anthem that goes 'Nammuru Mysore', which means 'My city/my hometown Mysore', is about being determined to take on any obstacle and overcoming it. Dixit says, “It talks about working as a team and is egging them to bring laurels to the city of Mysore."

While in the UK, the group Raghu Dixit Project also shot their music video for 'Jag Changa', title track of their latest album. After their Birmingham gig got called off, Bacardi India transported them to the Aberfeldy, home of Dewar's Whisky in the Scottish highlands. With the help of Manuj Munjal, Euan Ryan, Daisy Costello and others, the band finally got to complete the shooting of the long awaited music video. It is expected to be released in a week or two when the group starts its Hard Rock Café tour in the country.

After the soft launch of 'Jag Changa' at NH7 Weekender in 2013, the band kept busy travelling across the country as well as internationally, due to which the album has not seen a proper release yet. Dixit assured that they have arranged their own distribution network through which they will be putting out the physical copies of the album in many cities.

When asked why the long interval between their debut album, 'Raghu Dixit' and the new release 'Jag Changa', the folk artiste said, “When the first album was made, we did not have a lot of platforms to put our music out. We believe in playing live constantly, and compiling albums is not the only definition of being a musician. As long as we can keep performing and keep fans happy, I think that is what matters."

True to his words, Dixit has been involved in many projects, including a bunch of social causes. He was also a part of the 'Micromax Unite Anthem – Roobaroo', a project undertaken by Micromax for Independence Day. There were also reports about Dixit donating a sum of five lakh rupees to fund hundred educational loans for the NGO- Rang De's borrowers; an NGO for which he is also brand ambassador. A philanthropist by nature, the musician also supports causes like PETA, Smile Foundation and Fight Cancer. He states, “I think everyone who can be of any help, must do whatever they can. If it is in our power to support someone, we should because that is how we can still call ourselves human."

He admitted that even though they have not released another album, the band is always composing music. They have enough new material for their third album which will tentatively be released by next year. The band announced that it has officially signed with a UK booking agency Midnight Mango Ltd for its UK and Ireland bookings. The management company will be working with them to help plan and execute their Summer Festival tour of 2015 in UK.

The Raghu Dixit Project will also be performing at the Pune and Delhi editions of Bacardi NH7 Weekender this year, Covelong Surf Classic and Music Festival 2014 in Chennai and at the Indian festival of arts Kalaa Utsavam in Singapore in November.
