Munni and Dabangg rule Uninor Mirchi Music Awards 2010; Lifetime Achievement for Ravi

*Between them, the two sweep Best Song, Best Album, Best Male Vocalist, Best Female Vocalist, Best Music Director, Best Upcoming Singer, Best Item Number, Best Background Score.

MUMBAI: At a glittering live-music entertainment extravaganza in Mumbai on Thursday, the Who's Who of the Music and Entertainment Industry of Bollywood witnessed stars from the movies and music fraternity hand out the honours to the best achievers across as many as 22 categories in the third and biggest edition yet of the Uninor Mirchi Music Awards 2010 Powered by Karbonn Mobiles.

Munni Badnam Hui and Dabanng made a clean sweep of the most respected Music awards created by Radio Mirchi as a salaam to the best of Music. Between them, the two bagged the Best Song (Munni), Best Album, Best Female Vocalist and Best Upcoming Singer (both - Mamta Sharma), Best Male Vocalist (Rahat Fateh Ali for Tere Mast Mast Do Nain),  Best Music Director (Sajid-Wajid) , Best Item Number (Munni), Best Background Score (Sandeep Shirodkar), Best Upcoming Singer (Mamta Sharma), awards.

Sheila Ki Jawani bagged the Uninor Mirchi Listeners' Choice Award for Best Song of the Year, while One Upon A Time In Mumbai won the Uninor Mirchi Listeners' Choice Award for Best Album of the Year.

The awards also honoured great music director Ravi, one of the most tuneful composers of Bollywood, Ravi, with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Similarly, one of India's greatest film music instrumentalists, the reputed Charanjit Singh, fondly known as Channi, who is a master of several difficult instruments, received the Jury Award for Outstanding Contribution to Hindi Film Music.

The show, anchored by the effervescent Shaan and the exuberant Sonu Nigam, was a great mix of musical and humorous entertainment, with performances from, among others, top stars like Akshay Kumar promoting T Series and Bhushan Kumar's much awaited blockbuster Patiala House, and Priyanka Chopra promoting Vishal Bharadwaj's forthcoming 7 Khoon Maaf. Usha Uthup wearing a special Mirchi-embroidered saree, along with a glitzily attired Bappi Lahiri regaled the crowd with their evergreen disco numbers punched up by DJ Lloyd.

The fact that these awards were adjudged by a eminent jury chaired by Javed Akhtar, and comprising of Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamurthy, Annu Malik, Lalit Pandit, Prasoon Joshi, Kailash Kher, Shankar Mahadevan, Louiz Banks, Aadesh Shrivastava, Ramesh Sippy, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Suresh Wadkar, Sadhna Sargam., made it a truly memorable achievement for all the winners.
