Mohit Chauhan to release solo album in July

MUMBAI: Who can forget the classic pop song Dooba dooba by Silk Route? The band may not have gone far as a 'band', but lead vocalist Mohit Chauhan has surely made the best out of both non-film and film music. The singer plans to release a non-film music album shortly under the aegis of Universal Music.

Speaking to Radioandmusic.com, the singer, best known for his Hindi film tracks - Tumse Hi from Jab We Met, Khoon Chala from Rang De Basanti and the recent Masakali from Delhi 6, as well as Haafiz Khuda and Kuchh Is Tarah from Nagesh Kukunoor's 8 X 10 Tasveer, says he is yet to freeze on a title for the same. "I have some namesin my mind, but it's too early to talk," he says. The new album will have nine tracks written and composed by the singer himself, and is due for release  by July this year.

"I have been recording for the album for the last three months - I'll be recording a couple more and then we'll start the post production," he says.

On the film front, Chauhan's voice would be heard in Rakesh Roshan's Kites, Kabir Khan's New York and Vishal Bharadwaj's next film.
