Mirchi bags 12 honours at IRF awards

MUMBAI: Continuing its winning streak, Radio Mirchi and Red FM were the big winner at the seventh edition of the Indian Excellence in Radio Awards 2012. Mirchi bagged 12 honours while Red FM took home  eight trophies.

Mirchi bagged honours for Best Radio Programme in Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Hindi (for non-metro stations); RJ of the Year (Telugu), Best Radio Promo In-House in Telugu, Marathi and Bengali, Best Radio Station Imaging Innovation, Best Interactive Idea and Best Creative Campaign.

Radio Mirchi chief programming officer Tapas Sen said, “We at Radio Mirchi have constantly focused on programming innovations and it feels great to be recognized and honoured. We look forward to a year full of interesting campaigns engaging listeners across our network. Recognition like this only helps us in setting a benchmark for ourselves in pursuit of excellence year after year.”

Digital Radio (Mumbai) Broadcasting Ltd took the second spot with eight awards. The network won trophies for Best Breakfast Programme/Show (Hindi), RJ of the Year (Hindi) - Malishka, RJ of the Year (Hindi – For Non-Metro Stations), Best Radio Promo - In-House Tamil( Suryan FM) and Kannada, Best Community Service Award, Best Media Campaign and Best FM Station (Red FM).

Red FM senior VP- projects and programming Nisha Narayanan said, “We have always tried to do the simple things with a different approach making Red FM stand apart from the other radio players in the market. We are extremely pleased that we were also associated with radio campaigns that have won awards for our advertisers, reflecting upon the trust the advertising fraternity has in our network.”

Other big winners of the night included Reliance Broadcast Network Limited(Big FM) with seven wins, Music Broadcast Pvt Ltd(Radio City) and Radio Mango with three awards each. Club FM won two awards for RJ of the Year (Malayalam) and Excellence in New Media Initiative category while Fever 104 FM (HT Media Ltd) won Best Radio Promo - In-House (Hindi) for Ramayan. The ‘Most Effective use of Radio in an Ad Campaign’ and the ‘Most Outstanding Use of Radio In An Ad Campaign’ was bagged by Mindshare Fulcrum- GroupM for Pond’s Let’s Pink and Top Indian Cricketers QUIT before the ICC World Cup 2011! respectively.
