MUMBAI: Grammy winner Lady Gaga's hit single �Bad Romance' was officially the most played single on UK radio last year.

According to the annual airplay chart compiled by music licensing company PPL, the pop queen topped the charts with 'Bad Romance' at number one and her other single 'Alejandro' at number three while Alicia Keys's 'Empire State of Mind' took the runner-up spot. The previous year's chart was topped by Lily Allen, with her single The Fear.

PPL, which collects airplay royalties on behalf of artists and their record companies, generated a record ?143.5m last year, up 11% from 2009.
