EMI Music hosts classical concert series

MUMBAI: EMI Music India has organized a five-city concert �Cottonking Swarsanjeevan' by National Award Winner Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar and music composer Kedar Pandit across Nasik, Pune, Kolhapur, Aurangabad and Mumbai.

�Cottonking Swarsanjeevan' is a combination of different devotional music genres which has been presented in series of music albums and concerts by EMI Music. The two-hour concert is a blend of fusion music and contemporary stage arrangements by music composer Kedar Pandit and Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar who has rendered Hindi Bhajans, Marathi Abhangs and Hindustani Classical for the album.

The first series of live concert took place on 24 September at Kalidas Kala Mandir, Nasik. The concert showcased songs from the albums �Swarsanjeevan', �Naam Sankeertan', �Nirvana' – three new devotional music albums recently released by EMI Music. Legends like Pandit Jasraj, Shankar Mahadevan, Sadhana Sargam and Devaki Pandit also participated through an audio-visual medium at the concert.

Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar, a disciple of Pandit Jasraj, has established himself as a major exponent in the world of Indian Classical Music. Pandit Sanjeev Abhyankar is a Hindustani classical music vocalist of the Mewati Gharana. He won the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer in 1999, for his song, �Suno Re Bhaila' in Hindi film 'Godmother'.
