Anu Malik to score music for 'Singh Sahab - The Great'

MUMBAI: Renowned music composer Anu Malik, who is currently judging Indian Idol season 6 has scored music for Anil Sharma’s upcoming film ‘Singh Sahab - The Great’.

The action film featuring Sunny Deol is cashing on different music directors and the first track, composed by Malik, has been rendered by Mika and Mamta Sharma. The album will consist of tracks from various genres including romantic, folk and regional amongst others.

Speaking about the new venture with Radioandmusic.com, Malik said, “Anil is my good friend and it was quiet interesting to score music for his film. The tracks are quiet refreshing featuring various romantic and folk songs. It was fun to record with Mika and talented Mamta, they both were amazing.”

The composer, who has been co-judging all the seasons of Indian Idol since its inception is quite overwhelmed with the talent in the present season. He is especially impressed with the singing flair of Kolkata contestant Sohini Mishra, who he claims can leave a mark on music industry. “This season we have quite talented singers ranging from classical to western. I am pretty sure that the audience would never forget these contestants as they are so melodious. Sohini Mishra from Kolkatta can go a long way, if not in Indian Idol then as a playback singer. She is definitely going to become the next big singing sensation. After a long time, I have met someone like Sohini who has been so well trained in classical music,” he commented.

The composer who has lately been trending on twitter with his witty rhymes has also made an impression with his instant shayaris on Indian Idol. This season Malik is accompanied by yesteryear diva Asha Bhosle, singing sensation Sunidhi Chauhan and celebrated composer Salim Merchant on the judges’ panel. Ecstatic on sharing the dais with Bhosle, Malik stated, “Co-judging with Ashaji is fantastic and over whelming, we get so much to learn from her experience and the fact that Ashaji is impressed with my skills of rhyming or shayari is quiet engulfing. I was touched when in the upcoming episode of Bol Bachchan Bol, she praised me and remarked in amazement ‘Anuji aap itni achi shayari kaise kar lete ho’. I had no words to express.”

The composer will also be scoring music for Feroz Nadiadwala’s upcoming venture.
