Sarthak FM awaits operation license permission; to go on-air from 1 April

MUMBAI: Radioandmusic.com’s last report on Sarthak FM clearly stated that the upcoming FM station was facing frequency issues. Thus, there was no clarity on its final on-air date, though the speculative date was 1 April 2017. Now this day will be the final on-air date of the radio station in Orissa. 1 April also happens to be the day when Orissa was formed in 1936.

The station is just short of operation license permission at the moment. Sources from the station suggest that it will be cleared soon.

Sarthak FM was supposed to launch in 2016, but due of permission issues, the team had to postpone their on-air plan.

The station will officially launch on 14 April, known as the Odia New year.  In between 1 to 13 April, the station will play back to back hit Odia songs and teasers of their official launch as a part of their test run.

The station is launching in Cuttack in April and plans to launch in Rourkela in the next two months after the first launch.

Orissa has two private stations as Big FM, Red FM with Hindi content and Radio Choklate with 80 per cent Hindi and 20 per cent Odia content. Sarthak 91.9 FM will be the only FM station to have 100 per cent Odia content in Orissa.

According, to Sarthak Music managing director Sitaram Agrawala, it is Hindi content on-air that diverts the audience to television from radio. To get back the listenership and revenue, the station will witness a unique concept for all age audience. Click on the link below for more.
