MTunes expansion plans under wraps; to experiment with content in 2013

MUMBAI: The Indian music industry is constantly undergoing change with the help of its audience who is now open to consuming new forms of music. As the music scene expands to incorporate more newer music and expose the Indian audiences to innovative content, most players are now aiming to expand their footprints in the business with new channels. Also amongst them is MTunes, which is slated to release around four channels in the coming year to cater to a wider range of audience.

Bandana Sharma is the voice of Kapil Sibal's song "Tu Jaldi Bata De" from Film "BANDOOK"

MUMBAI: Director of film "BANDOOK” Aditya Om and music director Nikhil Kamath were looking for a voice that sounded like Lataji in the late 60’s and after considering many singers they zeroed in on singer Bandana Sharma to sing "Tu Jaldi Bata De" penned by Kapil Sibal –  Minister of Communications and Information Technology. They collectively they felt that her voice was best suited for the song and its situation in the film.

Kalpana Patowary to perform at Bandra Fort Festival

MUMBAI: If you attended the NH7 Weekender festival in Pune earlier this year end 2012, you might have recognized the Bhojpuri Queen as the flamboyant front woman of the Trilok Gurtu's band. Kalpana Patowary – Assamese singer and Bhojpuri icon(BHOJPURI QUEEN), will be performing live in the Bandra Fort Festival this January 12th 2013, with Trilok Gurtu. An excited Kalpana posted on her Facebook Page, saying, "Really looking forward to performing in Mumbai at Bandra Fort on 12th January 2013.

Crescendo Music unveils patriotic album 'Rock On Hindustan'

MUMBAI: On the occasion of Republic Day, music label Crescendo Music has announced composer Siddharth Kashyap’s patriotic album ‘Rock On Hindustan’. The album will release on 26 January 2013. Featuring a blend of rock, fusion and traditional Indian music, the album is aimed at instilling a patriotic feeling in the generation of young Indians. It comprises of seven tracks rendered by 15 renowned musicians and chorus singers including Roop Kumar Rathod and Madhushree.  Seven music videos have been shot for each of the songs.

Although the joke played by Australian radio RJs were meant to be ‘harmless fun’ and similar pranks have been played by their counterparts in India, the tragedy highlighted the unpredictable reaction of humans/ listeners to unexpected situations.
