Euphoria gets spiritual with new album 'Sharnaagat'

MUMBAI: Fans of pop-rock outfit Euphoria are in for a treat of a spiritual kind. The Delhi based outfit, known for its catchy pop and rock tunes, has jumped into the spiritual wagon for its latest offering.  It’s soon to be released first devotional/ spiritual album- ‘Sharnaagat’ (To Surrender to the Supreme) trades pop hooks for serene and reflective songs. The band is however confident that fans will take to their new work. And going by the response that the seven tracks have received on iTunes, it seems their hunch is correct.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, frontman Palash Sen said that the songs were composed by his father Dr Rajendra Kumar Sen almost 30 years ago. While the songs are spiritual, it does not lean towards any faith or believe. The album is under Times Music.

“The songs talk about god and faith without taking (any) god’s name. As a band, we like to experiment with different genres and we all decided to go with the devotional/ spiritual genre this time,’ he said.

While the compositions were Raga based, the arrangement and sounds were contemporary. A video to support the album is also due to be released shortly. The promo video was released last month.

“Euphoria has always broken new grounds and any phase of one’s life is good for spirituality. The album is about removing the boundaries imposed by religions. We have so far received unbelievable response for the songs on iTunes,’ he added.
