Archana's Diary: MeA Day 8 ÔÇô Shreya Ghoshal ÔÇô Super melodious!

One singer who feels like a family member with Radio City, purely because she loves Musical-E-Azam and its live feel, is Shreya Ghoshal. And I'm sure no one could agree more that in live singing,  Shreya Ghoshal sounds like we are listening to a record or a CD. She is simply fantastic,  and going by the number of calls we got for Shreya,  one could tell how many fans she has out there – in Mumbai and internationally. How?

Archana's Diary: Shail Hada - Super talented, super humble singing star!

Many Musical-E-Azam listeners didn't have any clue what Shail Hada's musical tete-e-tete on MeA be like, but surprise-surprise, it was by far one of the 'chhupa rustam', wah-Ustad type of shows! Firstly the guy is truly a 'santushtttt' soul! That's probably why he hasn't lobbied around and approached music directors for work.

Archana's Diary: Shantanu Moitra on MeA - astronomer-composer

The brilliant young award-winning music director Shantanu Moitra was busy catching up with the birds in the sky (more crows than any other birds) thanks, he says, to this punctuality ki bimari... he suffers from in these not-so-punctual times!... But it's his fault, really, because he was before time for our pickup to Musical-e-Azam.

Bappi da is a true legend! Firstly, he had agreed to come to Musical-e-Azam (MeA) over the phone when we called him one lazy afternoon! And even though he was very unwell, he not only smilingly said he would come, but kept his word too, and how!

Archana's Diary: Richa Sharma - truly genuine!

Richa, just like her name, is rich in every single way! She is awaaz ki gunee, she is adaaon ki gunee, full of warmth, and totally genuine -- not even 1% put-on! Firstly, she was our first guest who came on time, and told us she'd been practicing since a week to wake up early (since most artists like to catch up on sleep as they do live shows all over the world and have late-night recordings too) and hit the gym for six days so that she wouldn't get late for this Musical-E-Azam (MeA). A true Virgo I guess – dedicated, and how!

Archana's Musical Diary: The Sajid-Wajid episode

And, as promised, I am back with my inside scoops from Day 1 of Musical-e-Azam, which featured Sajid-Wajid this morning, and what a start it was. But more on that later. First, let me tell you about this wonderful guitarist we have. A quiet gentleman called Sarosh, who's been on all our earlier M-e-As. He's warm, quite and so humble, that it took a long conversation to get out of him  Asha ji learnt guitaring from him! He extensively does live shows with Shaan and Shankar Mahadevan, and has done several with Asha ji too.

Radi-oh!: RJ Manisha, Radio Misty: Introvert in a dream job!

I was born in a border town called Jaigoan, which is very close to the India-Bhutan border. Radio happened to me suddenly. I had left my place to pursue graduation in Siliguri, the largest city of the region. Here, while studying,  I got into the habit of listening to radio, as all students do. I was just 18 years old, and my habit of listening to the radio had me dreaming of becoming a radio jockey. Never knew my dream would come true some day!
