Indian Ocean's Susmit Sen launches solo album

MUMBAI: Susmit Sen, founder and guitarist of fusion music band Indian Ocean has launched his first solo album Depths of the Ocean' on EMI Music.

The launch witnessed a brief live performance by the impeccable guitarist jamming on some of his pieces from the album.

The album includes seven tracks featuring his trademark guitar work along with an eclectic mix of singers, including classical vocalist Shubha Mudgal, Nitin Malik of Parikrama, Papon and the band's late member Asheem Chakravarty.

The piece with Chakravarty was recorded almost four years ago. The album reconnects to the instrumental, melancholic, almost wordless sound of the bands initial days which made them a cult. Susmit Sen said," The album is about freedom in every sense and incorporates music that expresses several emotions."
