Ustad Zakir Hussain pays tribute to Abbaji

MUMBAI: Ustad Zakir Hussain paid a heart-warming tribute once again fore the Ten year in row, to his father and guru the legendary Ustad Allaraakhan and his beloved Ammaji (Zakirbhai's Mother) who left on 24th October, 200 on the eve of Ustad Allaraakhan's Ten death anniversary, in the form of a day-long musical event held at the Shanmukhananda Hall, Matunga on 3rd February 2010.

The venue reverberated with musical notes all day long from 6:30 in the morning to 10 pm at night with the first parva (phase) called Taal Pranam beginning morning at 6:30 am in which Ustad Zakir Hussain, Fazal Qureshi, Vijay Ghate yogesh Samsi along with the students of Ustad Allarakha Institute of Music followed by spiritual tribute by Shankar Mahadevan along with Ustad Zakir Hussain 

The next session Taal Tapasya...- A Tribute to Abbaji which began at 10:30 am consisted of a powerful Tabla solo Performance by Vijay Ghate, Shubhankar Banerjee and Nayan Ghosh who spun their magic on the audience consisting of renowned actor Shashi kapoor, santoor Maestro Pandit Shivkumar Sharma and Anoup Jalota.

The Grand Finale of the evening was lit up by a highly spirited Jam session with Hisnu sanlendinci  and emrah ginaydin -Taksim Trio from Istanbul with Billy Cobham (Drums) led  by Ustad Zakir Hussain.

Host of immensely talented artistes including, , Niladri kumar on the sitar, Ustad Zakir Hussain on the tabla, Ranjit Barot, (percussion), Sabir Khan , Shridhar Parthasarthy , Rakesh Chaurasia also patriciapted in Jam Session.

The programme saw many luminaries related to the realm of music and arts attend, such as, Melody queen Asha Bhosale Vithal Kamath, Pandit. Satish Vyas, Anup Jalota, Gayatri joshi, Shekhar suman, Rahul Sharma with his wife,  Shivamani, Bhavani Shankar  and Shashi Vyas  along with other Family members of Ustad Zakir Hussain, Fazal Qureshi,  and Taufiq Quereshi's families.
