Unicomm Launches Independent Music & Film Expo

MUMBAI: Unicomm, producer of the 3D Entertainment Summit(R), 3D Gaming Summit(R) and LA Mobile Entertainment Summit(R), today announced the launch of the Independent Music & Film Expo(TM) (IMFX). The event is the first experiential and conceptual conference and exposition for artists and industry insiders focused entirely on the creation, production, promotion and distribution of original music and movies. Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI), the global leader in rights management, has signed on as the Official Music Sponsor of the expo, scheduled for Friday-Sunday, October 5-7, 2012 at the Los Angeles Convention Center in Los Angeles, California.

Unique in concept, the IMFX(TM) exposition offers artists and technicians the opportunity to discover the latest technology and techniques, get hands-on training, gain knowledge and skills from industry leaders, obtain the newest equipment, hear breaking industry news and network with peers and industry leaders all within a dynamic show floor environment. IMFX(TM) will empower thousands of artists, filmmakers, producers, and prosumers (the creators/producers of digital content) with the opportunity to see, touch, play with and understand the tools and services they need to succeed in a connected digital entertainment world. The organizers expect over 10,000 attendees to engage the over 400 exhibitors on a show floor that exceed three acres of exhibits.

"Nowhere else can this audience find the volume and quality of information available all in one place," stated Unicomm CEO John Golicz. "We are excited to offer these original content creators alternatives to existing revenue streams, distribution vehicles and even cutting edge new content formats."

"Technology has fractured the traditional business model for filmmakers," stated Bob Dowling, the Film Event Chair. "Through hands-on technology workshops, power panel sessions, industry keynotes, and leading exhibitors, our event will explore where original content is now as well as look at the future of a rapidly evolving global entertainment marketplace, speaking directly to the aspiring artist."

"Music is the single most important continuing pulse of the planet. Music and video are everywhere we turn," said Jimmy Maynes, Head of JCM Consulting Group and former VP Creative/A&R for Jive Records, who is announced as IMFX' Music Event Chair. "As technology continues to evolve, content becomes more accessible thus intruding on the very capability to make money from its solicitation. Our attendees will learn that being discovered is the antiquated model for becoming successful. The new winning formula is to be discoverable!"

In announcing BMI's role as Official Music Sponsor, Charlie Feldman, Vice-President of Writer-Publisher Relations, said, "BMI is dedicated to serving our over 475,000 members with advice, insight and knowledge they need to advance their careers. IMFX(TM) will play a critical role in helping aspiring artists to leverage technology and best practices. We are thrilled to be involved in this groundbreaking event."
