The Park's New Festival - 2011

MUMBAI: The Park Hotels brings to you the fifth edition of The Park's New Festival curated by Prakriti Foundation - a gala event that celebrates contemporary performances and art from across the globe. Conceptualized and curated by The Park Hotels and Prakriti Foundation The Park's New Festival is designed to promote emerging and new artists. The discerning Indian audiences can now enjoy the festival across six locations - New Delhi, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.

The Park's New Festival is the only Contemporary Performance Arts Festival in India, directed by Ranvir Shah - Prakriti Foundation.

Details of the performances:

Maya Krishna Rao (Delhi) - She is known for her solo performances, in which she performs scripts and directs herself. Her comedies are based on current political events, social issues or just about anything.

Parijat Desai Dance Company (New York, USA) - Set to electronic music by South Asian American artists, 'Make Space' rewires the sculptural positions of bharata natyam using postmodern/modern dance techniques, and remixes classical footwork patterns in response to contemporary beats. Dancers undulate and slide their bodies, creating openings within rigid classical forms. 'Songs To Live For' is an ambitious new dance theater work in development based on Hindustani thumri and khayal. Songs explores the spiritual and romantic longing evoked by this music, as well as the vibrant Mughal courts where this music emerged.

Dnoax (a collection of performers across the country) - Hip Hop is no more limited only to particular race, country or continent. It has evolved into something universal. DNOAX's music gives you a total new (Desi Number One Artistes X) experience to hip hop genre. DNOAX is one the latest and biggest Hip Hop groups in the world having more than 15 rappers in their crib under their own record label Desi Media Networks.
