RC Live - 14 Regional Finalists identified

MUMBAI: After weeks of anxiety, the list is finally out! The names of the top 14 Hindi bands qualifying for the RC Live Regional Finals in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai have been announced. The results were declared after the RC Live judges, Palash Sen, Subir Malik and Vibhav Rao meticulously went through over 100 entries from aspiring Hindi Bands from all across the nation. The short-listed bands per region, in order of preference, are as follows: " Regional Final Bangalore: Udaan, Ek, Swarathma, Anhad " Regional Final Delhi: Faridkot. Musafir. Aas. Muzoc. OM " Regional Final Mumbai: Yeshua, Prayag, Talaash, Shor Bazaar, The Nitish Pires Band Starting Feb 18, the original compositions of these bands will get extensive radio-play on Radio City 91.1FM stations in each respective region allowing listeners to vote-in for their favourite bands. These selected bands will battle their way through at the Regionals Finals in Bangalore (Feb 20), Delhi (Feb 22) and Mumbai (Feb 23) respectively. 1 band per region will finally make it to the Grand National Finals and compete for the title of India's best Hindi band at a live concert featuring a performance by Indian Ocean in New Delhi on February 29, 2008. Speaking on the responses received to RC Live Palash Sen said, "RC Live has truly demonstrated the variety and magnitude of untapped original talent in our nation! I'm speechless to hear such good original music, which cutting across genres and influences forms to deliver an original Indian voice and sound. I'm speaking to each of the bands personally and encouraging them to truly put up a great show. This is critical because this competition is not only about winning or losing; it's important that bands fully use this platform provided by RC Live to realise their dreams and give this country truly indigenous bands." Equally impressed was co-judge Subir Malik who added, "The response for RC Live has surpassed my highest expectations. Considering that such a talent hunt is being done by a radio station for the very first time in India, the quality of entries received is simply superlative! Now that we've confirmed the talent, I'm looking forward to the live performances at the Regional Rounds to judge the bands against critical factors such as quality of originals, audience appeal, chemistry and professionalism. I wish the all the short-listed bands the very best and advice them to put their best foot forward and make the most of this opportunity. Rock on!" Spanning the nation through three regional hubs - Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai, RC Live will conclude with a mega concert at the National Finale at Garden of Five Senses in Delhi on February 29, 2008. The winning band at RC Live will not only bag an album release contract with EMI.but Radio City and EMI will also jointly promote the band for the course of one year.
