MUMBAI: Think of all the films made by Rajshri Productions (P) Ltd., and the first thing that you remember about them is their lilting, haunting music… And while their super hit films have the Barjatya stamp all over them, most of their unforgettable songs have a single name behind them - music composer Ravindra Jain.

And now, with his music in Rajshri's latest production, Jaana Pehchana..., directed by actor Sachin, the incredibly long association between the two seems to be heading for what could easily become a record in Bollywood. With Jaana Pehchana..., starring Sachin and Ranjeeta releasing this year, the veteran composer has completed a mind-boggling 38 years of association with Rajshri Productions!

Way back in 1973, the legendary composer had stunned the then ruling music directors with his endearingly simple compositions with Saudagar, his first Rajshri film starring Amitabh Bachchan and Nutan. As if that was enough, Ravindra Jain also wrote the lyrics for his own compositions. While the music left Bollywood spellbound, it made Dadu - as Jain is affectionately known in the industry – an inseparable part of Rajshri Productions.

What followed was not only a dream run for the Barjatyas and Ravindra Jain, but also an endless treat for music lovers in their films like Toofan, Geet Gaata Chal, Tapasya, Chitchor, Dulhan Wahi Jo Piya Man Bhaaye, Paheli, Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se, sunayana Gopaal Krishna, Raadha Aur Seeta, Naiyya, Maan Abhiman , Nadiya Ke Paar, Abodh, Babul, Vivah, and Ek Vivaah Aisa Bhi.

Interestingly, for as many as five of these films, Ravindra Jain has composed music for films starring Sachin. These films include, Geet Gaata Chal, Ankhiyon Ke Jharokon Se, Gopaal Krishna, Nadiya Ke Paar and of course, Jaana Pehchana....

Ravindra Jain or Dadu, as we all call him, has been a father-figure to me ever since I did my first film with Rajshri. As you must be aware, the unforgettable songs of Geet Gata Chal and Akhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se are still loved by people of every age. Absolutely nothing has changed since then. Dadu is still creating the same kind of magical music, which will be evident when the songs are released. And he is still a father-figure to me. I don't need to tell a legend like him what I want,... says Sachin, when asked about their equation now, when he is the film's director.

Jaana Pehchana... is an emotional, sensitive romantic story with a unique flavor, delving deep into the nuances of the relationship between the two protagonists. It is about a successful entrepreneur who has not yet come to terms with his past... Then a person enters his life and tries to heal his wounds…
