Abiogenesis to Perform at New Delhi

MUMBAI: Abiogenesis, the popular fusion band of India from Nagaland, India will be performing at the Akshara Theatre’s Pipal Tree Theatre, the outdoor amphitheatre located at 11-12 B, Baba Kharak Singh Marg, New Delhi on March 14, 2009. Akshara Theatre's Northeast festival titled "Romancing India's Northeast: An Akshara Theatre Celebration.

Not just satisfied with playing mainstream music and their hunger to take music to a higher level, the band went further into exploration & experimentation which resulted in evolving a new form of world music which they have named 'Howey' . Howey is a fusion of rock with Naga folk tunes. They also play a new wind musical instrument made of bamboo invented by a band member Moa. Bamhum is played as a leading instrument by Arenla in many of their tracks. Abiogenesis is the only band in the world that plays Howey & Bamhum. Known for their energetic and lively acts, they have performed in many places in India and Thailand.

Their recent album ‘Rustic Relish was released worldwide through their indie label APH Records. Rustic Relish was listed in the 51st Grammy Awards in 4 categories. Their previous album titled 'Aeon Spell' released through Saregama in June 2007 was also listed in the 50th Grammy Awards in 2 categories.

Abiogenesis are Arenla on Vocals / Lead Bamhum, Moa on Guitar/Bamhum/Harmonica,Toji on Lead guitar, Sanen on Bass and Imli on Drums/Percussions.
