Sony Ericsson has announced the launch of new handset christened Satio, to be made commercially available in the fourth quarter. The touchscreen multimedia mobile, which features many of the iPhone's innovative features, is being touted as a "game changer".

The Satio Smartphone has a 12 mega pixel camera with a Xenon flash. Analysts put this down to the steep decline of "mid-market" phones, an area traditionally dominated by Sony EricssonThe Satio is roughly the same size and weight as the iPhone 3G. The Smartphones are based on Symbian Series 60 software and is available in three colours - Black, Silver, and Bordeaux.

The phone is likely to be available on contracts above ?35 and is pitted against the iPhone.
