Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd launches 101 Melody Makers

MUMBAI: Songs in Hindi Cinema play a vital role. So do people who create these melodies. We often appreciate songs but tend to forget people who actually created the melodies that we adored so much. Shemaroo Entertainment pays tribute to 101 such music directors, lyricists and playback singers and devotes its next release to 101 of these all-time great melody makers.

Shemaroo Entertainment Ltd launches101 Melody Makers on home video adding to  its very popular 101 series of song compilation DVDs. 101 Melody Makers is a 3 DVD pack paying tribute to 101 all time great music directors, lyricists and playback singers - right from 1940s to the present day by dedicating a song to each. A journey through each DVD is sure to take one on a musical and visual journey across eight decades.

The first disc is devoted to music directors encompassing 35 music directors right from Khemchand Prakash and Naushad to Anil Biswas, S.D. Burman and Shankar Jaikishan… Right from the R.D. Burman, Kalyanji Anandji and Laxmikant Pyarelal era to Bappi Lahiri, Anu Malik, Rajesh Roshan, Nadeem Shravan, Jatin Lalit, Mithoon and Pritam among others.

Disc 2 is enriched with the magic of 30 lyricists right from Shakeel Badayuni, Shailendra and Sahir Ludhianvi to Majrooh Sultanpuri, Kaifi Azmi, Anand Bakshi and Indivar right upto Nida Fazli, Irshad Kamil and the Guinness World Record Holder Sameer.

Disc 3 pays a fitting tribute to 36 playback singers (male & female) right from K L Saigal, Mohd. Rafi, Talat Mehmood, Kishore Kumar, Mukesh to Sonu Nigam, Kumar Shanu, Udit Narayan  and Atif Aslam among male singers and from Noor Jehan, Suraiya, Shamshad Begum, Lata Mangeshkar, Geeta Dutt  and Asha Bhosle to Usha Uthup, Alka Yagnik, Kavita Krishnamuthy, Alisha, Sunidhi Chauhan  and Rekha Bhardwaj among female singers.

Shemaroo presented a copy of this unique DVD pack to several celebrities featured in the product who appreciated Shemaroo’s efforts of keeping our musical legacy alive. It was personally gifted to Asha Bhosle, Suman Kalyanpur, Pyarelal (of Laxmikant Pyarelal duo), Anandji (of KalyanjiAnandji duo), Amit Kumar, LeenaChandavarkar (Mrs. Kishore Kumar), Sameer, Anu Malik, AlkaYagnik, Udit Narayan among others. It also served as a wonderful memento for the music fraternity of the 1990s gathered recently to felicitate lyricist Sameer with the Guinness World Record Certificate.
