DSP fuses southern beats with north Indian attitude for Singham-II

MUMBAI: Soon to release ‘Main Hoon Surya Singham’ will have the support of soundtrack by celebrated South music director Devi Sri Prasad (DSP) when it hits 250 screens pan India on 2 August. DSP is a celebrated music director in south India’s film industry, considered by many the region’s A R Rahman, having worked in over 200 films.

The movie is Singham Pt-II (directed by Hari), a box office hit down south (Tamil Nadu) dubbed in Hindi to leverage on the success of south Indian films and their remakes beyond the region.  This is the first time that a south Indian film dubbed in Hindi is being released in such a scale.

DSP seamlessly fuses the infectious south Indian rhythm and beats with the ‘attitude’ of northern singers- Baba Sehgal and Roop Kumar Rathod- for a soundtrack that pumps in adrenaline boosting club tracks.

The film’s distributor- Cinekon Entertainment- is confident that the movie and the music will make a killing at the BO and charts respectively.

“The music album of Main Hoon Surya Singham has 6 tracks although the film has 9 tracks. All except one track are peppy numbers and the ‘Singham Dance Again’ is already a club hit. We expect the film and music to do well beyond the southern market(s),” Cinekon Entertainment owner Kalapi Nagada told Radioandmusic.com at the launch of the music.

Explaining the absence of music director DSP at the music launch in the city, Nagada said that south Indian artists—actors and directors- give more importance to making their work ‘speak’ for itself in lieu of heavy promotion and marketing.
