Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and sons feature in PETA ad

MUMBAI: Sarod maestros Ustad Amjad Ali Khan and sons Amaan and Ayaan Ali have featured in PETA India’s new advertisement ‘Bring Harmony to Birds’ Lives – Let Birds Fly Free’.

Strumming their sarods against the backdrop of birds flying in the sky, the ad is an expression of the long-standing appreciation of birds by the musical family.

Commenting on the PETA initiative, Ayaan Ali Khan said, “Human beings, especially musicians, have a lot in common with birds. We all want freedom, whether it’s freedom of expression and creativity or the freedom to fly.”

The gifted trio has performed in some of the most prestigious music venues in the world. They released their last album ‘The Music Room’ in 2010. Brothers Amaan and Ayaan recently released their Sufi album ‘Rang – colours of Sufism’ featuring qawwalis in their distinct style.
