Thaerichen's Tentet to start Max Mueller Bhavan golden jubilee soiree

BANGALORE: The Goethe-Institut (Max Mueller Bhavan India) announced that its Golden Jubilee celebrations will kick off with a jazz concert by Thaerichen's Tentet from Berlin on 20 November 2009 at 6.30 pm at the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan.

The Goethe-Institut completes 50 years in India. The event will be supported by Furtados Music and the Bangalore School of Music.

Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Bangalore Rolf Saligmann and Alliance Fran?§aise de Bangalore President, Chiranjiv Singh are among the people expected to attend the band's performance in Bangalore.

The band was founded by German pianist, composer and arranger Nicolai Th?¤richen with the singer Michael Schiefel in 1999. Thaerichen's Tentet's  success which reportedly has its origin in the compositions and arrangements of Nicholai Thaerichen, which are mostly set to poems of Dorothy Parker, Lord Byron, Thomas Hardy and Ronald D. Laing amongst others. Thaerichen's Tentet's  tenth anniversary was marked with a tour through China in spring this year and the release of its fourth record "Farewell".

Thaerichen's Tentet has the following members: Nicolai Th?¤richen: Composition, Arranger, Piano; Michael Schiefel: Vocals; Andreas Spannagel: Flute, Alto Flute, Tenor Saxophone; Sven Klammer: Trumpet, Flugelhorn; S?¶ren Fischer: Trombone; Jan von Klewitz: Alto Saxophone, Clarinet; Nikolaus Leistle: Baritone Saxophone, Bass Clarinet; Kai Br??ckner: Guitars; Johannes Gunkel: Bass; Kai Sch?¶nburg: Drums.
