Taylor Swift to play Canadian singer Joni in 'Girls like Us'

MUMBAI: Grammy Award winning country singer Taylor Swift has been roped in to play Canadian singer Joni Mitchell in the much anticipated movie 'Girls like Us'.

As per reports, the 22-year-old country singer will play Mitchell in the film adaptation of Sheila Weller's 2008 book 'Girls Like Us', which chronicles the lives of Mitchell, Carole King and Carly Simon and how they reshaped American music.

Allison Pill and Olivia Thirlby are reportedly in talks to portray King, while reports suggest that Girls star Allison Williams and Mad Men's Jessica Pare are front runners to play 'You're So Vain' singer Simon.

Swift had previously landed a small role in the hit romantic comedy 'Valentines Day' alongside former boyfriend Taylor Lautner. She has also voiced a character in Dr Seuss's 'The Lorax'.
