Sony BMG launches music album for UTV`s `Metro`

MUMBAI: Music for UTV`s forthcoming film `Life In A Metro` was launched by Sony BMG on 23 March in Mumbai.

Present at the launch were actors Shilpa Shetty, Shiney Ahuja, Kangana Ranaut, director Anurag Basu, UTV CEO, producer Ronnie Screwala and Sony BMG managing director Shridhar Subramaniam.

As a promotion strategy for the film, a brand, `Band Metro` was formed few months back. `Band Metro` comprising of music director Pritam, singer James Soham, Suheil and Niladri gave an electrifying live performance at the music release.

On the occasion music director Pritam said, "The soundtrack of Metro is unique in terms of its range and its depth. `Band Metro` promises magic in the soundtrack. Like fine wine, the music of Metro is a treat, promising to leave a memorable and lasting impression on film buffs and music lovers alike."

Director Anurag Basu added, "Apart from a strong storyline, the music of Life In A Metro is the USP of the film. The songs not only form an integral part of the script, they in fact drive the story forward. I think this is novel and am sure will be enjoyed by the audience. "

Sony BMG Managing Director Shridhar Subramaniam expressed, "It was a pleasure and a privilege to be launching the music of Life In A Metro - music that is so contemporary, different and fresh." He said, "Our association with UTV goes back to Rang De Basanti, which made history, and we are looking forward to Life In A Metro delighting music lovers yet again. With a talented team like Anurag Basu, Pritam, `Band Metro` and UTV, we are sure this soundtrack will be something we will look back to and be proud of!!"

UTV CEO Ronnie Screwala said," UTV Motion Pictures has always produced films that are very different, unique and contemporary. This also applies in the case of Life In A Metro, which is an urban, contemporary film. It has a fine script and a magnificent soundtrack. Our first project with Anurag and Pritam has been immensely rewarding. We have had a great experience collaborating with SONY BMG in the past and look forward to many such here on."

The music company is planning to promote Band Metro by organizing various road shows and live performances as well.
