Rosemary, Indigo Children peform at Mumbai chapter of Great Indian Rock

MUMBAI: The Mumbai chapter of the XIIIth edition of India's definitive rock festival - the Fuel Great Indian Rock organised by Rock Street Journal magazine took place over the weekend in Mumbai.

The GIR has already seen big concerts in Delhi, Bangalore, Pune and Kolkata in October. This is being followed by a club version of the festival in the cities of Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Shimla.

The Great Indian Rock Festival has over the years, featured some of the biggest names ranging from Parikrama, Orange Street, and Indian Ocean.

Over the years, it has become a platform for Indian bands to showcase their skills and talent and a variety of bands participated have gone on to become some of the most well known names in the country and abroad.

The main aim of The Great Indian Rock is to offer a platform for musicians to not just express themselves but also encourages artists to write and perform their own music.

Indian bands that will feature at the Great Indian Rock club events are Rosemary, Tempo Tantrik, Teddy Boy Kill, Indigo Children to name a few.

International bands who have participated this year are Benea Reach (Norway), Solstate (New Zealand) and Intronaut (USA) and 14 of India's talented bands from across the length and breadth of the country, spanning a variety of genres from alternative/psychedelic (Indigo Children, Delhi and Parachute XVI, Bangalore), funk rock (Boomarang, Aizawl), metal (Bhayanak Maut, Mumbai), 70's inspired rock (Half Step Down, Delhi), to nu-metal (Scribe, Mumbai).
