Rahman set to rock hometown for the first time

MUMBAI: Predictably, this concert will be much more special as Rahman  takes the stage echoing 'Jai Ho' in his own home town. According to recent updates, the academy award winning director is all set to perform at MARG Swarnabhoomi, Chennai on October 11, 2009.

The October 11 concert is not going to be just about music. Like all the earlier concerts, this one too is aimed at fund raising. This concert is aimed to help Chennai based Shakti Foundation with funds for medical eqipment for their wing Adhiparasakthi Medical and Research Hospital.

Earlier, Rahmans Khozikode concert generated funds for HIV positive orphan children, while proceeds from his second 'Jai Ho' (Pune) concert went to the Lata Mangeshkar Medical Foundation and the Shrikeshtra Alandi-Dehu Vikas Parisar Samitee.

The good part of this concert is the ticket rates seem to be much more under the realms of commoners. Starting from Rs 5,000 to as less as Rs 200 (for students). Certainly better than compared to his earlier concerts, where tickets were as high as Rs 25,000, with the lowest being Rs 450.

Rahman is scheduled to perform next at the GMR Hyderabad International Airport as a part of the 'Airport Festive Carnival' on 24 October, 2009.
